1,000 MOVING PARTS FROM DORY

Getting your hands on guitar parts for repairs, guitar making or customising isn't always easy, so hats off to Dory Oakes' 'Part and Parcel' service, whose catalogue lists almost 1,000 parts for almost all types of guitars and basses.

To make life easy for the budding customiser, Dory has arranged the catalogue in sections (depending on guitar type) complete with indexed drawings so that you know what to ask for.

Part and Parcel's range is truly astonishing, covering (for example) 40 different types of machines for Gibson-styled guitars, ranging from budget-priced items (suitable for 'copies') up to Schallers, Grovers etc.

Tremolo systems, pickups for acoustics, nuts, bridges, knobs - the Part and Parcel catalogue is fascinating stuff. A 'no-nonsense' guarantee (including replacement of any parts which don't fit, if returned within 14 days) completes the deal, so if customising is your scene you can get the Part and Parcel catalogue from Dory at (Contact Details).

BANDIVE & ATLANTEX IN MERGER SURPRISE

Fostex distributors (to name just one of their products) Bandive Ltd., and Atlantex Ltd. (distributors of MXR, Oberheim and numerous other top-selling lines) have announced a surprise merger, with Atlantex's Bob Wilson joining the board of Bandive Ltd. as Sales Director.

The merger of these two leading companies in the recording and P.A. field will, it is claimed, make the combine the biggest independently owned wholesaler/distributor in the U.K.

More details from Bandive Ltd. at (Contact Details).

Black Magic from Pro-Amp?

Just as we closed for press on this issue, we learned of three new combos shortly to appear from leading U.K. manufacturer Pro-Amp.

First off is the Voodoo Twin, delivering 75 watts into 2 10" Celestion G10-50s, destined to retail for £269 inc. VAT. With toroidal transformers and MOS-FET power stages, the Voodoo Twin features reverb and switchable channels. IT readers who prefer 12" speakers will be able to buy a 1x12" version, using the Celestion G12K-85, for £249.

Finally, the top-selling Demon 45 has now been joined by a second version, this time with reverb, selling for £179.

Watch out for an exclusive review in IT next month. Meanwhile, more details from Rosetti & Co. Ltd., (Contact Details).

MTR GOES O.T.T. IN NEW GEAR BONANZA

'IT' readers running home studios or P.A. rigs should certainly make a point of checking-out a massive new range of gear from MTR. Ltd. which should be in the shops soon.

First in the line-up is a range of products from Cutec, starting with a brand new rack-mountable analogue flanger/chorus/delay/ADT unit (the FX500) at a very low RRP of just £169. Following this is another rack-mountable goodie, the AE400 spring reverb, which includes an analogue delay combined, at an RRP of £142.

Also hot news from Cutec is the CX230 2-way variable X-over which runs from 250-6k, with phase reversal option. RRP is £142 A 3-way stereo X-Over, the CX350 is also new, and is switchable from 12 or 18dB/Octave roll-off. With balanced XLR operation price is £272.

Finally, Cutec now have their own mike range of three-models, the CDM 2, 4 and 6. These are all dynamic cardioid types, with low impedance operation. The CDM 2 has a fixed lead, the 4 and 6 feature detachable leads. Prices are comfortably low at £18, £30 and £44 respectively.

If all that doesn't sound like enough to be going on with, MTR also have new gear in their excellent value Vesta range. The SLO-20 is a dual compressor/limiter with side-chain access, 90dB signal to noise ratio and so on. price is £308. Vesta's TC8-10 is also new - a two channel 'Enhancer' (claiming strangely similar specs, to those of the Aphex-B Aural Exciter) but at the price of £235.

If a passive D.I. box is more your scene, then track down the TB1, 600 ohms, high impedance operation and capable of running 'both ways', it sells for £25.

No, we've not finished with MTR's newcomers, even now! There's a new 'high quality' boom stand at £28, plus a brand new (British-made) power amp, the TP1200. Suitable for either P.A. or studio use (MTR say) the TP1200 can deliver 600 watts a side into 4 ohms, uses MOS-FET output devices, is air cooled (really!), uses balanced Canons and has a built-in compressor so that it can't clip. Bridged into mono, the MTR amp will still deliver a power of 1560 watts into 4 ohms. RRP is £848.

More details on all the above from MTR Ltd., (Contact Details).
